Thymus doerfleri 'Doone Valley'
Common Name: 'Pink Creeping Lemon' Thyme
Zone 4 to Zone 8, Full Sun to partial sun.
1 to 2 inch high; spreading mat to 24 inches.
Variable prostrate perennial, with gold and green variegated leaves, with lemon scented foliage. Clusters of lilac-pink flowers in the summer.
Plant in light, well-drained soil. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Subsequent over watering will impair growth. Very drought tolerant once established.
Good for ground cover, herb gardens, front entryway or around patios, and rock gardens, planting in gravel and containers. Tolerates some foot traffic between stepping stones. Clean lemon scent popular with humans, yet extremely unpopular with insects. |
