Mature deciduous foliage height 6 to 8 inches; arching stems spreads to 18 inch, clump-forming.
Succulent, blue-green leaves in spring change to a mahogany -burgundy color by fall. Dense cherry colored flowers on a three inch wide terminal broccoli-like head blooms in late summer.
Prefers sandy, well-drained soil, avoid overwatering. Attracts butterflies and drought tolerant.
Use in beds, as a border plant, in rock gardens and containers. Excellent as dried or fresh cut flowers; strong stems hold the ornamental dried flower heads aloft all winter long. |
