Veronica longifolia 'Eveline' PP14888 (25) plants
Common name: Long-leaf Speedwell.
Zones 4 to 8.
Full sun.
Plants reach 20 inches tall and 12 to 16 inches wide, upright plant habit. Growth rate: Moderate, Easy to grow herbaceous perennial.
The extra tall, dense flower spikes of this species of veronica make it ideal for use in cut flower arrangements. They are a dramatic deep purplish-red and appear for an exceptionally long time from late spring to late summer. In the cool weather of fall, the foliage takes on deep purplish-red hues. Deadheading will promote additional blooms. An attractive vertical accent for the middle or back of the border.
This perennial is tolerant of a wide range of medium wet, well-drained soil types. Plants are strongest when grown in average, not rich, soil and full sun. Amending very heavy and light soils types with organic matter will result in improved performance, as will as a light mulch and regular water during summer. With too much shade, plants will need staking
Excellent as a border plant, ground cover, in mass plantings or along borders, in containers, for cut flowers and its salt tolerant. Attracts butterflies and Deer resistant. |
