Common name: Stonecrop-Autumn.

Plants reach 14 to 18 inches tall and 12 to 14 inches wide, compact, rounded, upright habit. Growth rate: Moderate, easy to grow.
Large clusters of fruity raspberry pink buds open to contrasting peachy gold flowers in mid to late summer. The clusters, on reddish stems, comprise the entire top third of the plant so they are quite showy in bloom. The season of interest is extended even further with the deep burgundy seed heads. The foliage of this selection starts off a deep blue-green color develops a purple hue as the season progresses.
Performs best in full sun in moist, well-drained soils, but it is extremely urban tolerant. Sedum can be grown in highly stressful sites around rockery with thin, poor, or very dry soils, of various pH, low fertility, extreme heat, drought, and high light reflectance; however, it is not tolerant of wet or poorly drained soils. Plants grown in rich soil tend to be lanky and open.
Sedum is one of the most popular perennials grown in American gardens because it is very easy to grow and hardy in most areas of the country. Thick, succulent leaves which can store water, allow established sedum to withstand periods of drought. This plant is not usually bothered by pests or diseases.
Excellent as a border plant, container, cut flower or foliage, dried flower or seed heads, drought tolerant, mass plantings, and salt tolerant. Attracts butterflies, Rabbit resistant. |
