Scabiosa 'Beaujolais Bonnets' (30)ct Flat
a/k/a Pincushion Flower Zones 6 to 9, Sun
Height of 24 inches and a spread of 12 to 15, compact, clump-forming.
Light red petals surround the deep burgundy center with protruding white stamens. From late spring through midsummer, flowers are on tall, wiry stems above a bushy mound of green foliage.
Plant is easy to grow in average, medium, well-drained soil; however it is intolerant of wet soils, especially in winter. A light mulch and regular water during summer will improve performance. Performs best in full sun; it does tolerate part shade, particularly in hot summer zones. In the fall, cut back any flowering stems helps plants prepare for winter.
Deadheading spent flowers to encourage additional bloom will attract more butterflies and hummingbirds. Excellent in rock gardens, borders and container gardens, and a long-lasting cut flower. Disease resistant. |
