Description
Leucanthemum superbum 'Sonnenschein' ('Sunshine') (30)ct Ellepots
a/k/a Shasta Daisy, Family: Asteraceae/Compositae (aster/daisy Family)
Zones 5 to 9; Full Sun.
Mature size: 30 to 36 inch high, spreads 30 to 36 inches;
bushy mounded clump.

Huge, 3 to 5-inch, pale lemon-yellow daisies with golden-yellow centers. The yellow color is more evident in younger flowers and best with some afternoon shade. Mature flowers are creamy white.

Very easy to grow and will adapt to most soil types. Leucanthemums require full sun and well-drained soil to be at their best. Moist, well-drained, alkaline soil is preferred. For best results, during their growing season provide plenty of water. Shasta daisies tolerate brief periods of wet soils in the summer, but may die in soggy winter soil. Winter drainage is especially important; planting in raised beds will help to provide these conditions. Division can be done in either spring or fall, and is recommended due to this perennial's tendency to be short-lived. Deadhead throughout the flowering season, cutting the flower stems to the ground.

Use for edging or in a mass planting, as an ornamental, in mixed beds, for a border, and in containers. Cut flowers are long lasting in fresh bouquets. Shastas make good perennials for Southern gardens, though partial shade is recommended in the warmest zones. Attracts butterflies and rabbit resistant.

Shasta Daisies are all-time favorites for the perennial border. The cheery flowers begin to appear in late spring and continue on for several months if faithfully deadheaded. Shastas mix so effortlessly with other perennials that no garden should be without them!

The Ellepot System is a method of growing in a peat media filled paper tube. Ellepots are environmentally friendly and decompose in the garden.

An Ellepot is a root permeable, biodegradable paper sleeve, instead of plastic. It is beneficial to plant development as root system does not spiral, and natural root development is encouraged.

Guidelines for Handling and Transplanting Elle Plugs

1) We strive to send every Elle plug with sufficient moisture to last through shipping. Upon delivery of your order, inspect all Elle plugs for soil moisture.
2) Water any plugs that appear to be dry immediately. If the Elle paper is dry, then the plug is drying out. All plugs arrive with the addition of a wetting agent to facilitate prompt, even water absorption.
3) If the Elle plugs are to be held for a period of time before transplanting, check the plugs regularly to ensure they are evenly moist. Do not let plugs dry out.
4) Just before transplanting, re-check moisture level of all plugs scheduled to be transplanted. Ensure that plugs are thoroughly moist.
