Description
Lavandula angustifolia 'Ellagance Purple' (30)ct Flat
Common name: English Lavender.
Zones 5 to 9.
Full sun; to flower, Lavender must be grown in full sun.
Plants reach 12 inches tall and 10 inches wide;
Clump forming habit.
Growth rate: Moderate, erect herbaceous clump-forming perennial.

'Ellagance Purple' performs admirably in the garden, producing masses of fragrant, intense purple-blue blossoms atop bushy mounds of silver-green foliage from midsummer through early fall.

2008 Fleuroselect Gold Medal

Lavender will grow in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil; and prefers alkaline, sandy soil with low fertility. To prevent crown rot, well-drained soils are required, particularly in winter, so plant in hot, dry, sunny areas where nothing else seems to grow. Other than that, Lavender is known to have few problems with pests and diseases. Shearing back the evergreen foliage in early spring will rejuvenate plants and stimulate new growth.

Attributes: border plant, in containers, cut and dried flowers and foliage, drought tolerant, evergreen, fragrant, and mass plantings. Attracts butterflies. Deer and rabbit resistant.

*Sold as a Flat of thirty (30) plants in 50mm Ellepots.

The Ellepot System is a method of growing in a peat media filled paper tube. Ellepots are environmentally friendly and decompose in the garden.

An Ellepot is a root permeable, biodegradable paper sleeve, instead of plastic. It is beneficial to plant development as root system does not spiral, and natural root development is encouraged.

Guidelines for Handling and Transplanting Elle Plugs

1) We strive to send every Elle plug with sufficient moisture to last through shipping. Upon delivery of your order, inspect all Elle plugs for soil moisture.
2) Water any plugs that appear to be dry immediately. If the Elle paper is dry, then the plug is drying out. All plugs arrive with the addition of a wetting agent to facilitate prompt, even water absorption.
3) If the Elle plugs are to be held for a period of time before transplanting, check the plugs regularly to ensure they are evenly moist. Do not let plugs dry out.
4) Just before transplanting, re-check moisture level of all plugs scheduled to be transplanted. Ensure that plugs are thoroughly moist.
