Large 2-inch, tubular, true blue flowers which open at the nodes all up and down the stems from midsummer into early fall. Smooth, mid-green, lance-shaped leaves form a nice sized clump that is perfectly proportioned for the middle of the flower border. A true blue perennial that is also floriferous!
Gentians tend to grow best in cooler zones with mild summers. It prefers full sun to part shade and should be protected from the afternoon sun in regions with hot, humid summers. Plant it in well-drained, sandy loam to loam soil with average moisture. If the soil stays wet, especially in winter, the plant may rot.
