Description
Echinacea purpurea 'Pink Double Delight' PP18803
Common Name: Coneflower; Series Name: Cone-fections Series
Zones 5 to 9.
Full sun to part shade.
Plants reach 18 to 24 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide;
Clumping habit.
Growth rate: Moderate.

Bright pink, pompon-like flowers which measure about 3 inches across are produced on strong, well-branched stems from mid through late summer. The flowers are long-lasting, turning lavender pink as they age. Similar to 'Razzmatazz' but has a shorter, more compact habit.

Plantarium Silver Medal 2006

Praised for their cheerful brightly colored flowers, coneflowers are a mainstay in today's garden. Be sure to leave some spent blooms on the plants in the fall because their seeds provide winter food for finches and other birds. Dried seed heads also provide winter interest.

Coneflowers like it sunny and hot. Though they will tolerate light shade, fewer flowers will be produced and the plants will be weakened. Light, loamy soils are best but coneflowers will grow in any well-drained soil. Once established, they are quite drought tolerant.

Excellent as a border plant, in mass or containers, as cut flower or foliage, dried flower or seed heads; fragrant flowers attract butterflies. Deer resistant. Echinacea purpurea is a wildflower native to the eastern United States and is well-adapted to survive the hot, windy conditions typical of that region. If properly cared for, they will form attractive colonies and will live for many years.

The Ellepot System is a method of growing in a peat media filled paper tube. Ellepots are environmentally friendly and decompose in the garden.

An Ellepot is a root permeable, biodegradable paper sleeve, instead of plastic. It is beneficial to plant development as root system does not spiral, and natural root development is encouraged.

Guidelines for Handling and Transplanting Elle Plugs

1) We strive to send every Elle plug with sufficient moisture to last through shipping. Upon delivery of your order, inspect all Elle plugs for soil moisture.
2) Water any plugs that appear to be dry immediately. If the Elle paper is dry, then the plug is drying out. All plugs arrive with the addition of a wetting agent to facilitate prompt, even water absorption.
3) If the Elle plugs are to be held for a period of time before transplanting, check the plugs regularly to ensure they are evenly moist. Do not let plugs dry out.
4) Just before transplanting, re-check moisture level of all plugs scheduled to be transplanted. Ensure that plugs are thoroughly moist.
