Common Name: Basket-of-Gold, Perennial Alyssum, madwort, goldentuft and gold-dust.
Zone: 3 to 7. Full Sun. Height: 7 to 9 inches tall, spread 15 to 20 inches. Moderate growth, Herbaceous perennial groundcover.
Aurinia is prized for its rousing floral display of tiny, golden yellow flowers borne in panicles just above the foliage. It forms fairly large, prostrate mounds of silvery-green leaves. Summit is an improved seed strain that produces very uniform plants and blooms very early compared to other Aurinias.
This plant demands full sun and very well-drained soil that is kept on the dry side. Plants grown in rich, moist or heavy clay soil may rot. To increase longevity, the foliage should be cut back by 1/3 after blooming. In hot and humid conditions, it may go dormant or be very short-lived.
