'Blue Lagoon' is a dwarf hybrid with fern-like dark green foliage and bright blue flowers shaped like a little hood, thus its common name, monkshood. Aconitum is one of the few blue flowers that bloom from mid to late summer. The aconitum for containers, 'Blue Lagoon' is also unique in that the flowers start blooming lower on the stalks for a showier display from top to bottom.
Monkshood should be planted in moist, humus rich soil, with generous amounts of compost and peat moss to give it a slight acidity. Aconitum prefers to be grown in partial shade, it will tolerate full sun with lots of moisture. Dry soil leads to stunting of plant growth.
