Description
Achillea 'Pretty Belinda' (25) plants
Common name: Yarrow.
Zones 4 to 8.
Full sun.
Plants reach 20 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide, upright, compact clump-forming,
Growth rate: Moderate, slowly spread by rhizomes, Easy to grow.

Rich lilac-pink flowers are produced in flat-topped clusters atop strong stems in early and midsummer. They have the most intense color when they first emerge and then fade to light pink as they age, lending a unique multicolored effect to the clump.

Deeply-dissected, fern-like, aromatic, medium green leaves have a somewhat spicy aroma which may persist when used in dried arrangements. Stems of the compact 'Pretty Belinda' do not tend to flop as much as with many of the taller A. millefolium cultivars.

Yarrow thrives in average to poor, well-drained soil. Planted in too rich soil, plants have a tendency to be tall and floppy. Tolerant of humidity, heat and drought, after the flowers have faded, pruning the plant back by half should awaken additional blooms for late summer. In the right location, yarrow can spread aggressively. Plants from seed are not reliable to be true to variety. Divide every few years to keep plants to a manageable size.

Hardy herbaceous perennials, yarrows are one of the easiest perennials to grow and a good choice for beginners.

Excellent as a border plant, in containers or for cut and dried flowers, in mass plantings, and salt tolerant. Attracts butterflies, Deer and Rabbit resistant.
